Hair Color
Professional hair color at Salon Riviera in Redondo Beach — from a single-process tint to multi-dimensional balayage, vivid fashion shades and the corrective work others won't attempt.
Hair color is part chemistry, part art. Randy has spent more than 40 years mastering both. Whether you want a subtle gloss that deepens your natural shade, a full set of highlights that brighten your face, or a vivid fashion color that turns heads, every service starts with the same thing: a conversation about what you want and an honest assessment of what your hair can handle.
Randy works exclusively with Schwarzkopf professional color and protects every service with Olaplex bond-building treatment. The goal is color that looks as good in natural light as it does under the salon lamp — and hair that feels stronger when you leave than when you walked in.
Clients come to Salon Riviera from across the South Bay — Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, Palos Verdes, Torrance and Manhattan Beach — because Randy's competition background means he can handle color work that goes well beyond a standard foil highlight.
What to expect
Step 1
Call & consult
Randy discusses your color history, goals and hair condition over the phone. He may ask about previous chemical services, your natural base color and any sensitivities. This call takes about ten minutes and helps him plan the appointment.
Step 2
Design
In the chair, Randy does a visual and tactile analysis — looking at your skin tone, eye color and hair condition to determine the tones and placement that will enhance your features. He explains the plan before picking up a brush.
Step 3
The result
Precision color with full Olaplex bond protection, finished with a blow-dry so you can see the color in its best light. Randy walks you through maintenance and when to rebook.
Who it’s for
Anyone ready for a color change. That includes first-time color clients looking for something subtle, regular clients who want a new direction, and people who need corrective work after a color job that didn't go as planned. If you've been turned away elsewhere, call Randy.
Randy’s approach
Randy is a 20-time California Hair Show champion and winner of the International New York Hair Show for cut and color. He competed nationally for 25 years, which means he has handled every color challenge the judges could throw at him — under time pressure, on unfamiliar models, in front of an audience.
That background shows up in his salon work. He reads hair quickly, formulates precisely and works efficiently. He uses Schwarzkopf's professional line because it gives him the widest range of control, and he adds Olaplex to every service because he won't trade hair health for color.
Products: Schwarzkopf professional color, Olaplex bond protection, Davines finishing products.
Frequently asked questions
- How much does hair color cost?
- Every service is quoted at your complimentary consultation. The cost depends on hair length, condition, and the complexity of the color work. Call (310) 386-8604 and Randy will talk it through with you.
- Can you fix a bad color job?
- Yes. Corrective color is one of Randy's specialties. He regularly takes on box-dye disasters, banding, brassiness and uneven lightening that other stylists won't attempt. It may take more than one session depending on the starting point.
- What products do you use for color?
- Schwarzkopf professional color with Olaplex bond protection on every service. Randy chose Schwarzkopf for its consistency, range and gentleness on the hair.
- How long does a color appointment take?
- A single-process tint typically takes about an hour. A full balayage or highlight session runs two to three hours. Corrective color can be a half-day session. Randy will give you a time estimate when you call.
- How often should I get my color touched up?
- It depends on the technique. Root touch-ups are typically every four to six weeks. Balayage can go eight to twelve weeks. Randy will recommend a schedule based on your specific color.
